Still Catching

If you are a trout fisherman and don't mind some cooler temps it's definitely worth hitting the Deschutes. The trout fishing is still really good through a chunk of the day. Unlike steelheading there's no reason to get to the river for first light, the trout are  more active once the sun pokes out for a few hours. If you are nymphing, hold on tight there is a fighting chance you may run into a hungry steelhead.

We are still having to work to catch the steelhead, but the bite has picked up of late. With most people done fishing for the season and getting the majority of the spots sure doesn't hurt our cause.

If you're one of the few people still fishing the Owyhee, watch your step. A lot of the browns are now SPAWNING. Anywhere there is shallow water, small gravel and a bit of current mixed in, there is a good chance there are fishing spawning or eggs buried in the gravel. So please keep your eyes open.
