Deschutes River

Deschutes River

The Deschutes was fishing good yesterday. Not much in the way of dry fly fishing but the nymphing was good. Stonefly nymphs and P.T.s is about all you need down there right now. The river continues to drop, and the more it drops the more spots it opens up.

Salmon Flies are just around the corner. They should start showing up in the next couple of weeks.

Owyhee River

The Owyhee is fishing good right now but there has been a little dry spell in the bug hatches of late. If you enjoy nymhing and like big browns the Owyhee is the place to be.

Go Time

Deschutes River
The Lower Deschutes River is up and a running for another season. The water levels started a bit high but now are dropping into great shape. We were out yesterday and the fishing was real good. It's mainly a nymphing thing right now, but we did run into a good but short lived dry fly hatch around 1:00. There were Blue Wing Olives and March Browns that were getting the fish all excited.

There were a lot of people on the river on Saturday, it was the opening day. Every day since the amount of people on the river has been dwindling, which is great. Get down there while the getting is good. Right now the fish are dumb and a dumb fish is a good fish.

Remember the Salmon Fly Hatch is only a few weeks away. Then things get real exciting.
